The leaves aren’t the only things moving quickly around Carmichaels this autumn season. The Mighty Mikes are back at it with a whirlwind of color and the crisp fall feeling that returns to the halls as the days grow shorter.
Homecoming blew in with a monsoon of success as attendants and their escorts enjoyed the rainy but beautiful evening of football and friendship. Senior attendants included Brenna Walker and Taylor Giles, with Lillian Hardy being crowned queen. Representing the junior class were Anna Hetrick and Bridget Pollock. Sophomores were represented by Jennifer Hunter and Kennedy Martin, while Chole Baker and Savanna Edge were selected by the freshman class. Pepper Mihalik and Grayson Shoemaker brought some extra sparkle to the evening as flower girl and crown bearer, respectively.
The annual Elementary Fall Festival was also a hit, featuring crafts, outdoor activities, food, and hay rides all day. And there’s been even more fun off campus.
Mrs. Christopher’s class recently caught the fall foliage aboard the Frostburg Flyer along the Western Maryland Railway and enjoyed some other historic spots on their autumn outing.
The Envirothon First Team is back representing the Mikes at the Pennsylvania State Grassland Evaluation contest in State College, PA, with Hayden Yeager, Isaiah Curry, Jocelyn Carter, and Joby Pratt placing third with their agricultural skills.
The Mighty Mikes Cross Country Team has also been sprinting toward excellence, with 12 athletes beating their personal records in their recent meet against Seton Lasalle and Keystone Oaks, and continuing the record-breaking with their final competition of the regular season at McGuffey. The team is advancing to the Mingo Classic Pinkout Invitational soon, where they hope to continue their ascent.
With all this activity both in and out of the halls, it’s no surprise that the mikes are in full color this fall.
