Carmichaels native Maximus Virgili is making his feature film debut as Buck Mulvaney in director Michael W. Gray’s coming-of-age family film American Summer, starring Christie Brinkley and Steve Guttenberg.
Virgili began his acting journey at the age of 11 and is the son of Geno and Erin Virgili. According to his representative, David Doan of CESD Talent Agency in New York, Maximus is known for his charisma, comedic timing, and authentic performances.
He feels Virgili developed a disciplined work ethic and natural on-screen presence thanks to years of youth athletics and physical training.
American Summer was directed by Michael W. Gray and premiered on the red carpet in East Hampton, New York on August 25th. It will be released in AMC and Regal theaters across America this fall.
In the film, an older Mikey reflects on a summer from his youth. That season, he had met ‘the’ girl and scored a spot on the team, while his US Army dad was missing in action. According to the film’s PR, the movie is a “heartwarming coming-of-age family film with humor, baseball, summer love, and a puppy who saves the day.”
The cast includes Dan Lauria (The Wonder Years), Logan Gray (Surfside Girls), Mia Talerico (Good Luck Charlie), Cullen Moss (Outer Banks), Erinn Ruth (Billions), Maximus Virgili and former Major League Baseball players Lee Mazzilli and Luis Sojo.
Gray directed the movie from a script he wrote, with additional writing by Jennifer B. White and Marc Prey. According to Gray, “We made this movie in tribute to small-town-USA life,” “It is important to me to bring people together which is what movies, baseball, community and family have always done. I am grateful for the opportunity to share American Summer with the country and soon the world.
Beyond his acting career, Virgili recently launched an artificial intelligence company focused on making AI-powered call answering more accessible and reliable for small businesses.
His company, Sentire Systems LLC, helps restaurants, medical clinics, salons, and home service providers capture customer calls that might otherwise go unanswered, enabling businesses to recover revenue that would have been lost to voicemail.
As he continues to build both his entertainment and entrepreneurial careers, Virgili is actively pursuing opportunities in television and film while remaining committed to bringing memorable characters to audiences.
