Greene County’s track and field talent was on full display in two of the sport’s biggest stages, as Deakyn Dehoet (Beth Center / Co-op from Jefferson), Nate Ricciuti (Waynesburg), and Andy Mahle (Waynesburg) competed at the prestigious New Balance Nationals and Reebok Nationals. Earning a spot in either national meet is a significant accomplishment, reflecting months of hard work, dedication, and outstanding performances throughout the season.

The athletes qualified after posting impressive times, distances, and marks against some of the region’s best competition. For many competitors, the national championships represent an opportunity to measure themselves against elite high school athletes from across the country. The meets routinely feature nationally ranked performers and future collegiate standouts, making every event highly competitive.

Simply qualifying places these Greene County’s athletes among an exclusive group of competitors who have demonstrated excellence in their respective events. Dehoet (100-meter dash), Ricciuti (110-meter hurdles), and Mahle (javelin) each embraced the challenges of training and competition while representing Greene County with pride.

Their coaches credit the athletes’ commitment to consistent preparation and their willingness to push through demanding workouts. The experience of competing at a national championship is expected to provide valuable lessons that will benefit them throughout their athletic careers, regardless of the final results.

Beyond the competition itself, the trip offers athletes the chance to interact with peers from across the nation, experience a championship atmosphere, and create lasting memories.

Their achievements have already brought recognition to their schools and communities, demonstrating the strength of the county’s track and field programs.

Qualifying for the New Balance Nationals and Reebok Nationals marks an impressive milestone. Their participation serves as an inspiration for younger athletes who hope to follow in their footsteps and continue Greene County’s tradition of excellence in track and field.
