High Point Raceway – 28th Annual DC Vet Homecoming

September 22-23, 2018

Come race with us on this special weekend as we celebrate our motocross heritage and the memory of “Big Dave” with all of our friends – old and new. We will offer a wide selection of vet classes for all skill levels, as well as support classes for our younger racers. Spend Saturday Night with us and bench race over adult beverages and vintage movies. This is a laid-back event that is sure to bring back cool memories.

As professional motocross privateer-turned-event-promoter, Big Dave Coombs was the co-founder of not only High Point Raceway and Steel City Raceway, but the AMA Amateur National Motocross Championships at Loretta Lynn Ranch, the Grand National Cross Country Series (GNCC), the National Promoters Group (NPG), the ATV Motocross Championship (ATVMX), the fabled Blackwater 100, and much, much more. His legacy extended to the foundation of MX Sports Pro Racing, organizers of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, as well as Racer Productions, Racer X Illustrated and Racer X Online. Big Dave Coombs passed on August 3, 1998 after losing his battle with leukemia. He was 57 years old.

Pit Bike Racing

Pit Bike racing will be featured Saturday evening! Bring out your bike and get ready for some bar-banging action and your chance for bragging rights.

There will be three classes for racers 16 years of age or older. Registration starts at 4pm at the Announcers Tower. We’ll have a quick practice at 6pm on the starting line and then get ready to go racing!

Race Fee: $20/class
2 Moto Format (weather permitting)
